“Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull the speck out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the speck out of your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:4-5 (KJV)
My closet was a complete mess. Clothes were everywhere and my kids had officially claimed it as one of their favorite places to play. One day I got tired of looking at it and decided to clean it out. It was no easy task, but I turned on some music and went to work. After it was clean and everything was put in it’s proper place, I stood back and thought to myself, “This looks really good.” When we spend our time looking for what’s wrong in others, we forget to examine ourselves. Resist the temptation to judge, criticize and condemn others. We must clean up our own lives by allowing God’s Word to shine on every area in our hearts and minds that is not like Him. This will preach a louder message than words ever can. We must show others that our lives were a complete mess, but look at what God did! If He did it for me, He can do it for you!
Prayer: Father, I ask Your forgiveness for being critical and judgmental of others. Thank You for helping me notice wrong in my own self and giving me Your Word to deal with it. Get me right and clean me up Father so that I can truly change my world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
