A Father’s Love

Posted on Posted in devotions

“And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18

I didn’t get to experience the love of a natural father as a little girl. I don’t have the memories that so many women have of their dads when they were small. It wasn’t until my adolescent years that God would bring a man into my mother’s life that would be a father to me and would love me as his own. Just having him in my life kept me from making so many wrong choices that friends around me were making. Because I felt validated by him, I didn’t have to look for it from others. God used his love to save me from going down a destructive path and I’m forever grateful.

That’s the power of a real earthly father. He can alter the course of one’s life. Maybe you never had a father like that. Maybe your father abandoned you, was always too busy and never made time for you. Or maybe he hurt and abused you. Maybe there are a million things you can think of that you would have done differently if only you were loved by a father. While there is nothing that can be done about the past, you can choose to do something about your present and future. Today, God wants you to know that He loves you and He will be a Father to you. You don’t have to search no more. The love you long for is found in Him. His love far exceeds the love any person can offer you. You are dear and precious to Him. Receive His love and He will change the course of your life and show you what a real father and daughter relationship is like.

Prayer: Father, thank You for being a great and loving Father to me. You affirm me and make me feel so safe and secure. I pray that You bless every woman who has never known the love of a father. I pray she reaches out to You and receive You in her heart and life. I pray she experiences Your amazing love in the same way I have. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
