A Grateful Spirit

In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
( 1 Thessalonians 5 : 18 KJV)

Not only are we approaching a very important holiday this week, I am also two days away from celebrating another year of life. At times I feel as though I’ve missed a lot of years simply because I wasn’t grateful. I always looked forward to gifts and not the gift of life itself. I know sometimes it’s hard to be content in a place that we know we don’t really want to be. As we push to grow and to pursue our dreams and purpose in God, it can be hard to remain thankful for the simple things. Life itself is one of the most precious gifts that any of us can have. There are so many people that will not make it to see this upcoming holiday. The Bible tells us that “in everything give thanks”. If it’s bad give thanks, if it’s good give thanks. Stop allowing your circumstances to take away from your level of thankfulness. Because God has given you life, you have the power to change your circumstances. If you want more money show God you are thankful for the little by tithing off of what you have. If you want a better job show him you are thankful for that one by getting up and going to it every day with a great attitude. Also remember to thank Him for what he has done and thank Him for what is to come.

Prayer: Lord we thank you for a grateful spirit. Forgive us for the times that we have complained instead of giving thanks. Thank you for always providing us with everything we need. Most of all thank you for life. In Jesus name, Amen.
