A Great Miracle Happened Here

Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, I am the Light of the world. He who follows me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is Life. (John 8:12 Amplified)

Hanukkah (or Chanukah) is the Jewish Festival of Dedication, also known as the “Festival of Lights.”

It is an eight-day festival that begins today at sun down.

Hanukkah is a time to remember when the Maccabean Jews rededicated the Temple and themselves unto God; the result was a miraculous manifestation of light. Oil that naturally would have burned for only one day supernaturally burned for eight days.

Jesus celebrated Hanukkah as it is recorded in John 10: 22 – 30.

Jesus wanted the people of His day to see His miracles and believe in Him as a result. His miracles point to His divine and Messianic identity. In this way Jesus personifies the message of Hanukkah: God is actively involved in the affairs of His people.

Hanukkah reminds us that God is a God of miracles.

When the miracle of the oil occurred it is said that all people for all generations will forever say when remembering this event that “A miracle happened here”

How does this apply to us?

How many of us take the time to say this about ourselves “A miracle happened here”? For, God most certainly has blessed us and redeemed us, and He continues to do so.

How many of us take the time to share our light by sharing our testimony with others?

I challenge you, especially during this Hanukkah season, to reach out and share your miracle testimony and let others know about how the Light of the World changed your life for the better.

Just as one candle can completely light up a dark room, so too can you spread light in darkness by:

“Let your light so shine before men that they may see {your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and} good deeds and recognize {and honor and praise and} glorify your Father Who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16 Amplified)

Prayer: Father, thank you for blessing me each day with another day to share your goodness for others. Thank you for redeeming me and loving me. Show me today how I can share my light with others.
