A Great Outpour

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.” Joel 2:28

Many of us see the rain, but we don’t all allow ourselves to get soaked in it.  We don’t all run and grab our buckets and collect it, letting it fill our containers.  Everyone doesn’t respond the same to rain. Likewise, everyone doesn’t respond the same to the Holy Spirit.  When we see Him moving, some are satisfied with just standing by and watching, but God doesn’t want us to watch.  He wants us to respond, to jump in, to participate, to get filled, and get completely drenched with Him.  A great outpour of God’s Spirit is taking place just as it was spoken of by the prophet Joel.  He is pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh and we must respond.  What the saints have long prayed for is finally here, and it will be the greatest move of God we have ever seen.

However, many of our lives have become dry and routine.  Some are wondering if God even attends their church because their services have become so humdrum.  There’s no real excitement, no great move of God’s Spirit, no power being displayed, no spiritual gifts in operation, people come in one way and leave the same way.  By the time they get to their car, their spiritual high and all the goose bumps they felt are long gone.  Why? Because many churches have begun to do what people have been doing for years, shutting Holy Spirit out and not letting Him flow freely.  They don’t want to seem out of control.  Obedience is better than sacrifice.  Don’t shut Holy Spirit out of your church and don’t shut Him out of your life.  When you see Him moving, open your heart and receive.  Respond to His nudge, respond to His promptings, respond when He is moving around you, respond when He’s telling you to give, to shout, to speak, to hush, to go, to pray, to love, to forgive, to apologize, to act, and respond when He is saying to be still.  RESPOND!  Don’t quench His flow, don’t grieve Him, don’t stifle Him, and don’t hinder what He wants to do.  When you respond to the Holy Spirit, you will see such great deliverance in your life.

Prayer:  Father God, thank You for Your word to me.  I receive it with all my heart.  Forgive me if I have quenched the move of Your Holy Spirit in any way in my life.  Teach me how to move when You move.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
