“Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.” 2 Timothy 2:10
Some of us look out at a lost and dying world and instead of being moved with compassion, we are moved with anger and frustration. We have stopped caring for the sinner, the poor, the wounded, the abused, the imprisoned, and the sick. We are so completely self-absorbed and distracted with our own problems, our own agendas, and our own needs that we don’t see the desperate needs of those around us. Nonetheless, God is doing a great work in the hearts of those who are willing. He’s stirring, shifting, breaking, realigning and purifying hearts all over the world. The end result is a heart like Jesus, a heart that genuinely loves people, both saved and unsaved. A heart that can see past the sin and into someone’s need for salvation. He’s working in His people a heart that would gladly go through hell if it meant someone coming to know the Lord from the testimony afterward. That’s what He is working in you. To will and to do of His good pleasure. When you focus on caring about what God cares about, choosing to be about His business, entertaining no thought of quitting, God will honor you. You can’t receive His crown of life, His prize of the high calling, or His honor, until you first die to yourself and live for Him. The miserable, burdened down woman that is loaded with cares, hasn’t won a soul to Jesus in years, lest she would feel an exuberant joy shoot through her like electricity and create within her a craving desire to experience more of that same feeling.
Prayer: Father, give me a heart of mercy and compassion for the lost, the sick, the poor. Break me. Stir me. Shift me and realign my view. I want to win the lost for You. I lay my life down. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
