“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, ESV.
I have a dear friend who gives the best hugs. I’ve joked with her that she could sell her hugs if she wanted to and I would be the first in line to buy them all. Who do you know can give great hugs? Is it your mother? Your grandmother? The lady at church? I believe there are people that God has blessed with the hugging gift. Their hugs are filled with so much love and if you’re like me, you can find yourself asking them, “Can you please hug me again?”
That’s how it is when God comforts us. It’s a great bear hug to our hearts. His comfort lets us know everything is going to be alright. His comfort reminds us that He is with us. Whether He leads you to a Scripture, places a song on your heart, or uses someone to bless you in some way, God has a way of comforting you and reminding you of His great love for you. He is a God of comfort. He knows how to take the everyday stresses of life, and give you peace and rest in your soul. He knows how to cause the storm that’s raging to be brought to peaceful waters again. He knows how to take a fearful and restless mind and cause it to rest.
Be refreshed today by the comfort of the Holy Ghost and the Word of God. Let Him minister to your heart and let you know everything will be alright!
Prayer: Father, thank You for blessing me today with a huge heart hug. Your comfort to my heart is amazing! Thank You. Help me be mindful to bless someone else with the same comfort that You have shown towards me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
