“Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised” Proverbs 31:30.
It would be wise to take this scripture and put it on your mirror so you can see it everyday. Say it to yourself as you go about your daily activities while placing a heavy emphasis on “a woman who fears the Lord.” To have godly fear is to have a reverential awe of the Lord that causes you to trust and obey Him.
If you ask a married man to share his number one grievance with his wife, most would say it is that she doesn’t respect him. If you ask a father to share his number one complaint with his daughter, many would say that there’s a general lack of respect.
We feel as though we can be selective in who we respect. It all depends on who deserves it, right? The truth is, we can not be selective. You can’t say you fear the Lord and not respect your husband. You can’t say you fear the Lord and not respect your boss. You can’t say I’ll respect him when he does this or that, because do you know what will happen? That mindset will creep into how you view God. You’ll only respect Him when he does this or that for you. Ask God to teach you how to fear Him. Ask Him to destroy all pride and rebellion, and develop His character in you. Ask Him to minister to every root of fear in your heart so He can create a right view.
Prayer: Father, I need Your help with this one. Help this to get into my heart. Teach me how to fear You. Teach me how to respect the men in my life. Help me see them from your view. Change my attitude, clean my heart, and give me a right spirit. In Jesus name, Amen.
