A Mother’s Glory

Posted on Posted in devotions

Whether serving as a stay-at-home mom, working mother or a woman with aspirations of motherhood, God counts you blessed. While western society’s growing concern with economic and social status begins to produce a subtle worldview of children being burdensome or contributors to a negative quality of life; remind yourself that God’s view is completely contrary. Psalm 127:4 (ESV) proclaims: “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth…” The Word even goes a step further in proclaiming that “many” children are a blessing. When we begin to reflect on how our efforts as mothers serve to plant Godly seeds for future generations, the realization of being entrusted with such an honor by God, the giver of life, supersedes any negative attitudes pertaining to motherhood and children. There may be challenges, but be assured that God will provide and grace us with the strength and patience needed to care for His treasures. Let’s speak highly of our children and consult God regarding them, as they are His before they ever became ours. When the days of wiping runny noses or feeding tiny mouths spiritual and physical food are long gone, our joy will be found in the power of our children to impact the world and be that bright light for others that they have been for us.

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” Psalm 127:3 (ESV)

Heavenly Father,
I pray for all the mothers who are experiencing trying times and ask that you strengthen them and remind them of their special assignment. For those unable to bear children of their own, but have been blessed to serve as a mother for someone in need, please grant them the wisdom and love to nurture those you have divinely placed in their care. Let none be discouraged and help us to encourage one another. Fill our mouths with words that edify our children and build them up. I thank you for all your blessings and may my family glorify you from generation to generation. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
