A Persevering Spirit

Posted on Posted in devotions

Lord, give me a persevering spirit
that sees no limits
or obstacles too great
come what may
help me listen
when my confidence goes missin’
and my faith is shaken
help me hear the voice of your grace and
peace calling me from deep within
when my face is against the wind
help me know it’s the not the end
it’s not over and you’re not done
no, it’s not over
and you’re not done with me yet
keep me like a good promise met
with the same intensity
that you fight for me
help me fight for you
with the same intensity
that you hold onto me
help me hold onto you
give me a persevering
a determined
and tenacious spirit
that sees no limits
or obstacles too great
no matter
what I face

God is calling His people to persevere by faith like never before. Persevere until you stand before the Lord and He says, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Persevere until you have finished your course and completed all that God purposed you to do. Persevere until your whole family knows that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life—whether they accept Him or not. Persevere until you see His glory on full display in your life. The day is coming when you will receive His rewards for your faithfulness and your perseverance. Don’t let go of His hand. Your labor is not in vain.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7, ESV.

Prayer: Father God, I love you. Give me a persevering spirit and help me finish my course with joy. Come what may, help me not be moved from my place in you. Help me Lord to keep the faith and keep pressing forward toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Amen.

(Examples of perseverance: Genesis 32:24-28; Matthew15:25-28; Luke 11:5-8, Luke 18:1-8)
