A Sacrifice of Praise

Posted on Posted in devotions

In the Old Testament, whenever God provided the people with a great deliverance, they would go all out in their demonstration of praise to Him.  They would rejoice and celebrate.  Even to this day, in Jewish culture, yearly feasts are still held to celebrate what God did.  Don’t shrug off God’s deliverance in your life as something to be expected, just because He is God.  Don’t allow what He did for you a minute ago to quickly become old news.  It grieves the heart of God when we find ourselves on to believing Him for the next thing, without really stopping to give Him thanks for what He already has done.  When we have a nonchalant attitude, we begin to see a decline in answered prayers.  “Why isn’t God moving in my life as He always did in the past?”, you might ask.  Could it be because you didn’t properly respond the last time He came through for you?  Is it because you now view Him as a genie whose only job is to give you what your heart desires?  Sure you probably told him thank you; however, did you give Him the praise and worship that’s truly due?  Did you run and testify of His goodness or did you treat it as a light thing?  He’s asking today, “Daughter, where is My heartfelt praise?  Where is My worship through your life?  What do you have to offer Me for how I delivered, redeemed, and restored you?  I heard you thank Me, but don’t I deserve much more than that?”.

Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.” Hebrews 13:15-16 (NLT)

I give you the highest praise–Hallelujah!!!  I am so thankful for all that You are and for all You have done in my life.  I lift my hands and praise You with a heart that overflows with gratitude!  I will share Your goodness in my life with others, because You are too good to keep silent.  I truly appreciate the blessings, the grace, the favor, the wisdom and understanding–everything!  Thank You for it all!  Help me stay reminded to always show my gratitude in my praise and in my actions from this moment forward, because You are worthy of it!  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
