“I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing. ” John 15:5, Amplified.
Jesus’ prayer to the Father before His crucifixion was a prayer for oneness, that we may be one just as He and the Father are one. (see Ephesians 1:-22-23).
In society, we reward what one is able to accomplish on their own. In God’s kingdom, God rewards what one is able to accomplish with the help of believers. Jesus said apart from Me you can do nothing. Jesus represents the Body of Christ, which is the body of believers, and apart from His body we can do nothing. A paradigm shift must take place in our minds to where we see each other not as merely standing side by side, but spiritually and vitally connected heart to heart drawing life from the same Source.
A sign of the soon return of Christ will be a gathering together of believers like we’ve never seen. We will cross denominational aisles, we will cross racial and cultural barriers, we will cross lands and territorial lines, and we will see each other the way God sees us–as His family in His kingdom. We will have each other’s back and will rely more heavily on each other. There will be greater accountability and truth spoken in love. Our spirit of unity will send a shockwave through the earth for God’s glory, to which God will respond. This unity will cause a harvest of souls like we’ve never seen and many will be delivered from the hand of the enemy.
Any work that encourages unity, God will undoubtedly bless.
Prayer: Forgive me Father God for trying to go alone. Forgive me for trying to disconnect myself from my brothers and sisters in Christ. Forgive me for trying to do things on my own. Forgive me for neglecting Your Body. I not only need You Lord, but I need my spiritual family of believers. Redefine the word family for me. Give me Your definition. I pray You will unite Your people throughout the earth and cause us to operate as one. Help us work together for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
