“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” Colossians 3:15
What are the areas in your life that have caused you worry and great concern? Maybe it’s a strained marriage, a rebellious child, a stressful job, or the like. Instead of focusing on what’s not going right in your life, choose to focus on what is going right. “And be ye thankful”, the Scripture says. What is true thankfulness? It is thanking God for what you already have, thanking Him for what is working, for what is growing like it should. You may have three children and one of them is experiencing behavioral problems at school and causing trouble. Don’t spend all of your time trying to straighten him/her out while you neglect to praise, reward and love on the children that are doing well. Our lives suffer when we fail to celebrate the areas that are working, that are functioning and growing. It’s like a garden. If one flower is withering and looks like it’s dying, do you spend all of your time on the withering flower and neglect to water and care for the flowers that are blossoming? If you do, you won’t have a garden at all. If you focus only on the problems, you won’t have a life at all. You are blessed and the Lord expects you to be thankful. Don’t spend another day in worry and care over things you can do nothing about. Live. Love. Celebrate the goodness of the Lord. Have an attitude of gratitude. It will give God room to repair what’s broken by His Spirit and power. Only He can make all things new. Don’t spend all of your time discussing problems with the Lord. Purpose to spend only 10% of your prayer time praying about the areas of great concern and 90% of your prayer time thanking Him for all He has done and for every area He has blessed. “And be ye thankful”, God says.
Prayer: Yes, Lord. Thank You for Your wisdom. I receive it in the depths of my soul. Thank You for all You have done in my life. Because of You, I am blessed. You have given me life and a real relationship with You. I thank You with all my heart! I rejoice in You Lord and Your work that You are accomplishing in me, through me, and around me. I trust You with every situation that has greatly concerned me. I pray You touch those areas and bring glory to Your Name. Thank you Lord. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
