Are You Trending?

Posted on Posted in devotions

When you are “trending” in the world, you are what’s happening; you are “it”.  When Jesus performed miracles, His fame spread across the city and all surrounding areas.  It is safe to say that Jesus was trending in His time; everyone was talking about Him and would seek Him out for a miracle when they heard He was near.  What would happen if the ways of God became popular in this day?  What if treating people right, choosing to remain abstinent, seeing miracles, signs and wonders, and staying with the same spouse until one of you kick the bucket, was the trend in our world?  While the vast majority would agree that the ways of God will never be the “in” thing in a wicked and corrupt world, it is our responsibility to let His ways permeate our heart and minds to where it is the “in” thing with us.  Jesus should be trending in our lives.  His word and His ways should be what’s popular to the believer.  It’s not when we pattern our lives according to world’s way of doing things that we see great change in our generation.  It’s when we say, “I’m not going to pattern my life according to the world’s standard.  I’m going to live out my life believing and trusting God in such a way that it will cause those around me to want to know the God I serve.”  When you live this way, you are truly trending!

“And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.” Luke 4:14 (KJV)

Father God, You are what’s happening in my life. You are the best thing since sliced bread to me and I wish everyone could know You the way I know You. Help me to show the world, by the way I live, that You are God. Only Your love can save a lost generation.  If I choose to pattern my life after what’s widely accepted in the world, that defeats the purpose of Jesus living in me. You saved me so that I can let my light shine in the midst of a dark world. Be glorified in me and use my life to show the world that You are real.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
