Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see. For the glory of the LORD rises to shine on you.” Isaiah 60:1 (NLT)

It has been said that giant challenges are not supposed to paralyze us, but to help us discover who we are.  If there ever was a giant challenge, David found it in Goliath, a hardened warrior who was 9 ½ feet tall and filled his enemies with terror.  Yet David, just a teenage shepherd was willing to take him on.  His people thought he was crazy, but he had faith in the Lord and remembered how God strengthened him in the past.  He said, “I’ve been a shepherd, tending sheep for my father. Whenever a lion or bear came and took a lamb from the flock, I’d go after it, knock it down, and rescue the lamb. God, who delivered me from the teeth of the lion and the claws of the bear, will deliver me from this Philistine (1 Samuel 17:34,35,37 Message).”  The Lord did deliver him.  David slew Goliath.  He faced a giant challenge and was victorious because he had been faithful day by day while protecting his sheep.  When the great public challenges come you will be ready if you are faithful to God in your everyday private life.  It’s the faithfulness in the small things that is key to facing the giant challenges of life victoriously.

Prayer: Father, Help me to see myself as a victorious daughter of the King.  Strengthen me and give me wisdom to rise up to meet the challenges of everyday life.  Allow me to see the importance of faithfulness in small things so that You may be glorified in all things.  In Jesus name, Amen.
