As You Love Yourself

Posted on Posted in devotions

“If you really fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.” James 2:8, ESV

In several passages of scripture, we find the command to love others as we love ourselves. How are you loving you? Are you patient with yourself? Merciful toward yourself? Do you encourage yourself? How you love yourself is how you will love others.

DOTK Challenge:

1. Pause for a moment and wrap your arms around yourself giving yourself the biggest hug.

2. Name three things you love about how God made you.

3. Spend time today doing something you enjoy. ie gardening, bike riding, painting, etc.

4. When you make a mistake, tell yourself, “Its ok. I’ll do better next time.”

5. Turn on your favorite music, light some candles and take a warm bubble bath.

Prayer: Father God, thank You for speaking directly to my heart. Teach me how to love me. I can’t love anyone unless I first learn how to love myself. Teach me. Help me. In Jesus’ name.

  1. I am struggling with the aftermath of being raped by a police officer when I was a teenager. He has taken so much of me over the years, but the loving kindness of our Lord has brought me this far. I know the healing process is slow, but I know one day my mind will be healed and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
I will continue to pray for those who need courage and strength, and they use their voices to tell and speak so their healing can begin too.

    1. May the Grace and Mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ sustain you always in your well doing. I have come to find in my struggles that Woman thou art loosed is a blessing for the World will hold you to your Past and the only way to be Mentally, Physically, Emotionally and Spiritually Free is to Truly rely on God. May you be Blessed in helping Many other victims with your testimony. Peace and Blessings Always.
