“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”  Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV)

Asking is the way of the Kingdom of God.  We live in a society that encourages strong independence and self-reliance.  However, when you become a citizen in the Kingdom of God you soon realize that it operates differently.  Asking is an attitude of faith in the love of God. You may say, “If He knows what I need, why do I have to ask?”  Asking gives God entrance into your situation.  It opens a door for Him to move. Your asking shows your faith in His love for you, faith in His character and ability.  You are a citizen in His Kingdom and He won’t withhold anything from you.  However, it is true. Many people of God have not, because they ask not.  Exercise your faith in God by developing a lifestyle and a kingdom habit of asking.  He may lead you to one of His children that will bless you and will open a door of opportunity for you.  Don’t be afraid.  Be patient.  You have asked and have given it over to Him.  Get ready to receive!  He will surely come through for you.

Prayer:  Father, thank You for helping me learn the ways of the Kingdom.  I have spent my life trying to be independent and never relying on anyone but I see that is not the culture of Your Kingdom.  I don’t want to fall short of Your blessings in my life or doing what You called me to do because of a refusal to ask.  I ask that You continue to reveal to me Your powerful wisdom on this subject.  Develop in me a lifestyle and habit of asking. May it open a door of continual receiving.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
