Be Happy, Be Content

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.” 1 Timothy 6:6

Happiness comes from within. No person or situation dictates whether we are happy, we do. Many would love to blame a person or a situation as to why they are not happy. There’s no sense in looking for reasons to be unhappy. Instead, look for reasons to be ok with life no matter what. All of the disappointments and delays we experience are all a part of living. Negative experiences and emotional responses to them are all part of life. Don’t think life is a trip just because of experiences. Life is not a trip. It is a gift from God and is meant to be enjoyed. Marriage is a gift from God. Children are a gift from God. Relationships are a gift from God. None of these are hindrances to our happiness, but were designed to enhance our happiness, not create it. As long as you approach life with the right perception, you can be content no matter what. Don’t wait until something good happens to be happy. Choose to be happy right now. God works inside out, not outside in. Always looking for outward stimuli to determine your inward state won’t get you very far. Let it come from within.

Prayer: Father God, you are the source of my happiness. No one else is responsible for making me happy. I get everything I need from you. I draw from your spirit within me happiness and contentment. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
