If someone is sensitive to fish, the slightest taste of fish, or even being in the house while it is being prepared cause an allergic reaction. Someone that is sensitive to light, can have an immediate response from exposure to bright light. Someone that is sensitive to the opinions of others, can be thrown off course by the slightest amount of criticism. There are sensitivities in our lives that are both physiological and psychological in nature, that affects our physical body and our mind, causing an immediate response. In the same way, we are to develop a spiritual sensitivity to God, to where we are sensitive to spiritual things. We must walk with a keen awareness of His presence and His power, to where the slightest impression that He places upon our heart causes an immediate reaction and response in our lives. Being sensitive to God causes you to be sensitive to the needs of those around you, to where you can pick up when someone is hurting, when someone needs encouragement or prayer, and when someone needs help. Being sensitive to God causes you to be sensitive to when you have sinned against God or have hurt someone. Being sensitive to God causes you to be aware when evil is present, when something is false, and when someone is of the devil. This kind of spiritual sensitivity that discerns between what’s of God and what’s not, that picks up on the needs of others, and that detects sin in our lives, all comes from spending quality time with God in prayer, spending time meditating on His Word, and looking for ways to apply His Word in your life. What you’ll find is the sharper you are spiritually, and the more sensitive you are to God, the more He can use you in a great way in the earth for His glory.
“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Hebrews 5:14 (KJV)
I thank You for showing me the importance of being sensitive to You. I ask that You train my ears to hear Your voice, my eyes to see the needs of others, and my heart to detect when You are wanting me to do something. Teach me how to flow with You and respond immediately to You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
