“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul…” Psalm 23:1-3a
You may feel like the only way you can truly rest is if things were quiet around you and if you were somewhere on a beach. If you were standing near an ocean on a tropical island surely your soul would be nourished and you would have the strength to go on. While it is a known fact that getting away to a beautiful place helps us relieve stress and feel a sense of peace within ourselves, the truth is, God’s presence is better than an ocean-view any day. Renew your mind to the truth that the same God that created the beautiful and spectacular destinations on the earth is the same God that lives on the inside of you. When you draw near to Him, He expects you to draw from Him. You are never suppose to leave His presence uneasy and not comforted. No matter your current surroundings, you must draw near and draw from His life source within you. He will calm your fears and restore the vitality of your mind, will and emotions. He will put your mind at ease and lead you beside still waters. He will fill you with peace and quiet you with His love, giving you assurance that He is in control and it is safe to trust Him. The truth the enemy doesn’t want you to ever know is that God’s spirit is an amazing well of salvation within you. And if he can make you feel as though you need to getaway to have peace, he has you. Approach God’s presence as though you are standing next to a vast ocean, expecting His presence to do for you more than an ocean would. Draw by faith from the deep well within peace, joy, and wisdom. Experience your Savior and very Present Help in a way that you never have before. He is better than an ocean-view.
Prayer: Father, help me get this understanding deep in my heart and never forget it. You are better to me than any destination I can go to. I steal away and draw near to you in my heart and by faith I draw from your life within me peace. Quiet my soul. I believe your presence can do greater in me than anything or anyone else can. Thank you Lord.
