Bullies of the Mind

Posted on Posted in devotions
“Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say,‘He will order his angels to protect and guard you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.” Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.” Luke 4:9-12 (NLT)
Negative thoughts are like bullies. They can crowd around trying to influence a wrong decision. Their goal is to cause you to doubt what God has said in His Word, but thank God we don’t have to put up with bullies in our mind.  When you feel attacked with thoughts that are contrary to God’s Word, follow the example of Jesus and speak His Word. When Satan tried to tempt Jesus in the wilderness and influence Him, Jesus opened His mouth.  You cannot silently fight thoughts with thoughts. You must literally open your mouth and speak God’s Word. If those bullying thoughts try to make you feel like you are alone, you must say “No, God is with me and He will never leave me.” If those bullying thoughts tell you that nobody cares, you say “God is my Father and I’m His daughter, and He loves me and He cares for me.” The truth of God’s Word is the only thing that is strong and powerful enough to destroy the lies of the enemy. His Word turns on the light and dispels all darkness. Only it can deliver and set us free to move forward in life.
Prayer: Father, thank You that I don’t have to sit and tolerate bullying thoughts. I have the authority to speak Your Word and dispel any lie that the enemy sends. Your Word is powerful and it is true. I speak it and live free.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
