When Martha saw that her sister Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus, she became upset and asked Jesus “don’t you care that I’m doing all of this serving while my sister is relaxing at your feet! Tell her to get up and help me in the kitchen!” All Mary wanted was to love on Jesus and learn from Him while He was near. She was in awe of Him and took advantage of this opportunity to be near Him. She didn’t care about anything else. He was her priority. In her defense, Jesus told Martha that she was worried and worked up over many things. He said that Mary had chosen the good part and that, no, He was not going to make her get up and serve. Choose to imitate the heart of Mary. Don’t stand on the side like Martha did, distracted and worked up over things that don’t matter. Choose to be like Mary. Let’s choose the good part.
“And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42 (KJV)
You tell me in Your word to draw near You while You are near. I know You’re near me. I hear You calling me closer to You. I choose to draw near. I don’t to spend another day of my life filled with care over things that don’t matter. You will take care of everything in my life. I draw near. In Jesus Name, Amen.
