“And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.” Matthew 14:28-29
Here you have a disciple who sees his Master at a distance and longs to be near Him. Peter’s motive was not to compete with the other disciples or to show them that he could do something miraculous. He wasn’t seeking promotion or to make himself stand out as the most courageous. He simply wanted to be near Jesus even if it meant walking on water. Peter called out, “Lord, if it’s You, bid me to come unto You on the water.” Jesus responded, “Come.” In order to experience a supernatural walk with God, you must hear God say, “Come.” You may hunger and desire to have more of Him, but you won’t go anywhere until you hear His bid to come and you step out in faith. If you come to the Word hungry for wisdom and revelation, you will be satisfied with what you crave for. If you come to God hungry to feel His touch, you will be blessed with a supernatural touch from Him. If you come to God lonely and needing a friend, you will experience the love of Someone that sticks closer than a brother. Those with an intense longing and who have ears to hear His Spirit never go unsatisfied. Jesus loves those that love to be near Him. In whatever state you are in, hear God’s Spirit saying, “Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is thirsty come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Revelation 22:17)
Prayer: Father, You are my God and I love to be near You. I hear You calling me closer to You. I come to You. Only You can meet my every need, spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. Create in me a hunger and thirst for more of You and help me to allow nothing to come between my relationship with You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
