Completely Assured

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1 John 5:13

Can you think of some things that you know for sure? For example, you know your name, you know the date you were born, you know the color of your hair, your shoe size, and so forth. You know these things about yourself and no one can tell you otherwise.
When it comes to the Lord, He wants you to be just as certain that you are born again. Sometimes the enemy will use people and situations to cause you to question your faith. But God wants you to know and be completely assured that you are in His kingdom. He wants you to be totally convinced and fully persuaded that He is your God and you are His daughter. If you were to die today, He wants you to know that you would spend eternity with Him.
For this reason, He gave us His Holy Spirit to bear witness with our spirit that we are born again. He gave us His Spirit to be our inner witness and once we are confident and assured, we can begin to truly enjoy this relationship we have with our Father.
Prayer: Father God, I come to you because I want to know for sure that I am born again and that you truly live in my heart. I don’t want to question it anymore. Please settle this in my heart once and for all Lord so that I can begin to live the life you purposed for me to live. I believe that you sent Jesus to die for my sin. I believe He rose from the grave and is alive today. I ask Jesus to come into my life, forgive me of all sin and take permanent residence in my heart. Thank you Lord that I am born again and in right standing with you! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. Sometimes truths so basic and pure as the ones described in this devotional are taken for granted and forgotten because of the world we live in. Even if we are certain of who we are, the enemy has a way of trapping us in his lies so that we forget who we truly are and what we have been called to do. Thank you for this message , God Bless!!
