You walk into the mall. Shades on, wallet in hand. You are ready to shop. After spending all morning trying on outfits, you narrow down your choices and proceed to the check out counter. The dept. store clerk asks, “did you find everything ok?”, as she compliments you on the shoes you picked out. She then announces, “ma’am that will be $500.” Your mouth drops. You only expected to spend half of that amount. The store clerk notices your dilemma and offers you a department store credit card. So you complete the application, discover you are approved, and you proceed to make your first transaction. She hands you your bags and as you are walking out of the store, the excitement you felt in the beginning is now replaced with shame and guilt. A few days later, you receive a welcome letter with your first bill. As you scan over it, you notice something the store clerk didn’t tell you and something you failed to read on the application. Your interest rate is 42%, your card limit is $500, and there are penalty charges for reaching your limit. The devil will never tell you the consequences that await your decisions. If he did, we would make wise choices every time. He is a deceiver and he is always on the prowl looking to give us what we long for but with terrible consequences. Choose to give your desires to God. He knows what you long for and He will bless you if you wait.

The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.” Proverbs 10:22 (NLT)

I don’t want to experience consequences tomorrow from poor choices made today. I choose to be led by Your wisdom and counsel so I can make wise choices today that I will be happy about tomorrow. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
