Cry out to Him

Posted on Posted in devotions

“But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”, Matthew 14:30-31, ESV

To distract is to prevent someone from giving their full attention to something. When God called me to start this ministry, I didn’t know the distractions would be so strong and the warfare so intense, with pulls on every side. But when I cried out to God, He picked me up and placed me back on my feet. God knows how to refocus you when you become distracted by the enemy, by situations, and by those that mean well, but are hindering you. Peter had stepped out of the boat on his way to meet Jesus on the water. The noise of the storm distracted him and he began to sink. He let out a desperate cry for help and Jesus grabbed him by the hand and lifted him back to his feet.

You may hear the noise all around you, you may feel the strong winds of adversity against your face and you may see the waves crashing down. It may feel like you’re about to cave in, but God is right there, my sister. Cry out to Him and He will pull you up and place you back on your feet. He will place you back where you need to be in His perfect will for your life. All is not lost when you become distracted and no, God is not angry with you. The Father loves you. Jesus loves you. Holy Spirit loves you.

Put your hands to the plow
set your face like a flint
the Lord, He won’t let you down
cast your cares on Him
there’s a job to do for His glory
yes, for His glory alone
Let Him do it through you
until that day He calls you home

Prayer: Thank You Lord. No one loves me like You do. No one can deliver me like You can. No one hears my deepest cries like you do. No one can save me like You can. I cry out to You Lord because You are the only true and living God. Rescue me. Pick me up and place me on my feet. Set my face like a flint and give me a focus I’ve never experienced before. I know You’re soon to return for me. Help me to stay ready and on the path You’ve placed before me. I love You with everything in me. In Jesus name, Amen.
