Discovering Your Gift

Posted on Posted in devotions

You may wonder, “What is my gift in life?”, “What am I put here to do?”, or “What can I contribute to this world that will help make it better?”  Those are great questions to ask yourself, but how about this question?  What do you do so well that it makes everyone say, “Wow!”?  God is a “wow” kind of God!  He amazes us with all that He is and with all that He does.  Jesus’ miracles and His teachings made everyone say, “Wow!”  King Solomon’s great wisdom made everyone say, “Wow!”  David’s musical gift to play the harp caused King Saul to say, “Wow!”  If it’s truly a gift from God, it will amaze people and blow them away.  What gift do you possess that causes this kind of response in others?  Is it singing, playing an instrument, writing books, creating art, acting, directing, dancing, fixing things, cooking, photography, managing people, sales, planning events, organizing, teaching, working with children, creating new technology, building things, speaking, working with youth, interior decorating, or sewing?  Maybe your gift is not something you do with your hands.  Maybe you have been given a great personality that makes people say, “Wow!”  Maybe your good looks amaze people and could work well for you in modeling.  Whatever it is, when you discover the gift God has given you, work it with all of your heart and for His glory!  Don’t drag your feet!  Put the time and energy into learning more about it and seek to be the best you can be at it.  Don’t sit and wait for anything to fall in your lap–be proactive! You have been given a gift from God, so you must begin to work it, even if resources are limited.  If you use what you got and keep at it, your resources won’t be limited for long.  God will send great resources your way, in the form of people, finances, and more creative ideas, so you can produce much more.  You’ll find that your gift will richly bless your life and the lives of so many others!

Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words!” (2 Corinthians 9:15 NLT)

Prayer:  Thank you Father for placing Your gift within me.  I am amazed at how much You love me.  You have given me something I love to do that blesses me and others.  Show me how to perfect it and work it with all my heart for Your glory!  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
