Do Not Tremble Beneath Your Shield

Posted on Posted in devotions

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

What would it be like if you were holding up your shield running in the direction of the enemy’s fiery darts? Fearless. Courageous. Completely abandoned and devoted to your King and Savior. Can you see yourself as that warrior? A painted face, quietly, calmly making her way through the wilderness. Tracking, watching, listening. Every move is carefully calculated. Every breath smooth and confident with an absolute awareness of the schemes of the lion looking for a way to her. She has embraced Jesus’ essence, His Words, His promises and she is filled with His power overflowing. The thought of fear is no longer existent in her reality.

This can be truth for your life. Sitting in the Presence of your Savior daily, glorifying Him with all of your thoughts and words and embracing His Word as the complete truth will bring you to this place. This takes time, but He is with you every step of the way. This prepares and equips you with armor and sword in your journey. Knowing the enemy exists, ready for whatever he may try yet remaining in the complete peace and joy of Jesus. It is not God’s role to hold up your shield, it is your armor to hold up and your weapon to strike with. Make the choice to no longer play the defensive. You have the authority.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You that victory is mine through Christ. Have Your way with me and build within me a great warrior for Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

(Read Judges 4:15-24 about a woman who stopped an enemy of the Lord with this kind of faith.)
