Do The Work

I stood outside at the playground with my children.  While there, I was also looking for an opportunity to share my faith with someone.  While pushing my kids on a swing, I met a woman who was there with her two boys.  I introduced myself to her and she told me her name.  We began to talk about family and children.  While talking with her, I could feel she was open to being ministered to, but I was unsure of what type of ministry she needed.  I didn’t force anything, but rather let the conversation go where it may.  She asked me where my children attended school and we started on a conversation about education.  She told me her children learn a lot at school and that her sons have been learning the truth about smoking.  She then shared that she had an addiction to cigarettes and that her son has repeatedly asked her to stop smoking.  Right at that moment, I saw an open door for ministry.  Holy Spirit began to let me know that He wanted me to pray for her to be delivered from smoking.  So I told her, “Did you know that God can deliver you from cigarettes and can take the very taste of nicotine from your mouth?  You won’t ever crave it anymore!”  She looked at me and said, “I want that!  Pray for me!”  I asked her if she had faith that God could deliver her from cigarettes and she said, “yes!” Then, I took her by the hand and prayed for her deliverance.  There wasn’t any lightning or thunder, no shaking of the ground, no tears and emotions, but I knew and she knew that she had just been delivered by the power of God!  She thanked me, we exchanged phone numbers, hugged, and said our goodbyes.  I felt like God had just worked through me at the playground to set one of His daughters free.  The experience was indescribable!  When God called you, He gave you His love, His grace, His power, His Word, His Spirit, and your testimony!  You are equipped with everything you need to do serious damage to the kingdom of darkness wherever you are.  Walk in what you have been given!  The greater works are not only for the five-fold ministry gifts.  We are all ministers of reconciliation and are instructed to do the greater works that Jesus commanded us to do!

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12 NLT)

Prayer:  Father, I acknowledge who I am in You.  I agree with it and I walk in it.  You have chosen me.  You have filled me and destined me to demonstrate your love, walk in Your power and show others Your glory through my life.  You are my courage and my confidence.  Thank You for empowering me to walk in my purpose and do the glorious, greater works You have called me to do!  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
