“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile” Romans 1:16, NIV.
God cares about everybody. It’s not just the saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost that He loves. He loves us all, and before He returns for His church, He wants everyone on board. He cares about the woman selling her body to feed her children. He wants her reached with His love and transformed by His power. He cares about the woman whose body, mind and soul has been damaged by years of abuse. He cares about the woman behind bars who is afraid she will never be free—even after she’s released. God cares. When He tells us to not be ashamed of the gospel, He is not only referring to the message itself but the people He’s called us to reach. We must not be ashamed of them!
Maybe you come from a background of drug and alcohol abuse. There are many struggling with this that need to hear the gospel message. Who would best reach them than you? Don’t be ashamed of them. Maybe you come from a background of mental illness and all sorts of emotional disorders. There are many who need to be reached from someone that understands exactly what they’re going through. Don’t close your heart to them!
It is God’s heart desire that every person has the opportunity to know Him. From the jail cell to the crack house. From the crazy house to the White House. He desires that none perish, but that all are saved and come into a true and real knowledge of Jesus! The question is, will you help Him in that endeavor? Will you stand for His Kingdom cause no matter where He sends you?
Do the work of an evangelist and make full proof of the ministry God has given to you. Don’t be ashamed of the people He has called you to reach!
Prayer: Yes, Lord. I receive your word. You have spoken right to the core of my heart and to who I am. I am your servant, and I’m here to do whatever you ask of me and go wherever you ask me to go. Forgive me if I’ve ever been ashamed of where you brought me from. Fill me with your Holy Ghost power and use me to reach the people you send me to. Help me to do my part in advancing your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
