Don’t Neglect the Gift
“Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.” 1 Timothy 4:14
To neglect is to pay little or no attention to; fail to heed; disregard; fail to care for or attend to properly; to fail to do or carry out, as through carelessness or oversight. No dream will ever be accomplished with a neglected gift. No gift will ever produce for God apart from us. Your gift requires you. It requires your time. It requires your diligence. It requires your focus and attention. Paul told Timothy to give himself wholly to them. He told him to give it all he had. You may have given some of yourself to your gifts, but God wants all of you to be given to them.
In these last days, God wants us to give it all we got. God wants to influence in these times with your gifts. Without you, your gifts will just sit on the shelf. A book never read. They will be a reality to nobody but you. The fulfillment in this life comes from doing for God what you were born to do. Talk to God about the gifts He has given you. Do not neglect the gift, but perfect the gift. Do not ignore the gift, be for the gift. Do not be lazy about the gift, be crazy about the gift! In so doing, you will save both yourself and them that hear you.
Prayer: Father, I pray that You reveal to me the gifts You have put inside of me and help me use them for Your glory. No matter how great or small the gift may seem, help me to give it all I have and use it to bless others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
