Don’t Work Overtime for Man’s Approval

“By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us—set us right with him, make us fit for him—we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that’s not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide open spaces of God’s grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.” Romans 5:1-2 (MSG)

So many of us go throughout our life trying to please people, trying to make people happy, trying hard never to disappoint those we love. The reward may be their smile, but the consequence can be exhaustion, depression or constant self-criticism. You don’t have to work hard to please God and win His favor. You are favored because you are His daughter. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, He’s pleased with you today. There’s nothing you can do for Him that will make Him love you anymore than He already does.
Dear Father,
Forgive me for looking to man for something You have already provided for me: acceptance, approval, a sense of belonging. I belong to You Lord and truly there is nowhere else on the planet I’d rather be. Keep me in Your love. Hide me under Your wings. I live for You and for You alone. In Jesus Name, Amen.
