Easier Said Than Done

Preaching to others is easy. Telling others how to be make right decisions, how to live by faith, and walk in peace and love others, can all roll off the tongue with wonderful ease. What becomes a challenge is making sure we are living by the same words we are sharing with others. Years ago I wrote a book that encouraged women to live supernatural lives and to learn to cooperate with God. Well there has been times I regretted ever writing it because I have to live what I preach. Oftentimes I want to respond like anything but supernatural, and there are many times when cooperating with God is not something I want to do. But I find the greater challenge within me is staying silent. Even if I was to put tape over my mouth and refuse to speak God’s word ever again, God’s burning message within me would find its way out. So since I absolutely have to preach it, I also have to live it. There’s no way around it. So I receive His grace and strength to walk this thing out day to day in my own life. In doing this, I find that my preaching and teaching becomes a hundred times more effective, because now I have real life experiences of giants I have conquered and things I have overcome. Don’t run from your calling because you fear you won’t be able to live what you preach. Just keep saying “yes” to God’s call on your life and let Him take care of the rest.

“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.” Ephesians 4:1 (NLT)

Father God,
Thank You for the lives you have blessed me to reach. I pray I don’t back down now, but move forward living, conquering and doing what I know I have to do. When life gets tough, rise up in me and make me tougher. In the face of challenges, I receive Your strength to respond the right way. I know You are with me as I walk this thing out in my own life, and continue to share with others Your message of love and grace. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
