“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
When a man is discouraged, God has a way of using a wife to encourage him. He may be doing the best he can to make ends meet. He may be trying his hardest to make good and sound decisions, but men often feel discouraged and dissatisfied. As wives, we must be sensitive to God in how we deal with them. As I sat there looking at my husband, I saw him trying to figure things out. He was hopeful and thankful, yes, but I could feel his heart. He wanted desperately to please God and to be in God’s perfect will. Instead of talking any further with him, God had me listen to him. I sat there and let him express his whole heart without interruption and he went on to sleep. Later in the night the Lord woke me up to pray. I prayed for him from my heart and knew that God was working. I gave it to God and left it there. Hours later, my husband woke up looking determined and focused. Ready to face the day. It takes wisdom from God to be a wife in the 21st century. We have to know when to speak, when to move and when to simply shut up and go to God in prayer. You can encourage a man by listening to him. He will end up encouraging his own self. Or you can encourage him by looking him in the eyes and lovingly declaring what God has said. Or more importantly, you can go to the God who made him, and ask God to bless him. God can bless him with a peace that surpasses all understanding. He can give him one word that can revolutionize his thinking. He can put a fire under him and get him moving in his purpose. He can give him a witty invention and a God-idea that can put you guys on top financially, but all of this comes by flowing with God. As a wife, trust in the Lord. Trust that as you pray and love him, that God will give him the strength, encouragement and comfort he needs.
Prayer: Father God, I pray You bless my husband. Give him a peace that surpasses understanding. Help him trust You with all of His heart. Help him hear Your loving voice in his ear, reminding him of Your unconditional love and favor. Lead him and guide him Lord. Order his steps. I plead the blood of Jesus over him. In Jesus name, Amen.
