“For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
Is there something that you have always wanted to do, but never had the courage to do it, even though you knew it could have a positive impact on the lives of others? For me, it is writing. I have always wanted to write one day, whether it was a play, a book, or a script for a movie. I just wanted to write! Now that I have this opportunity, yet the spirit of fear tried to set in immediately. Questions came such as “What are you going to write?” “Are people going to be encouraged from the words you write?” “Will God be pleased with what you come up with?”
Those were the questions that were floating around in my brain each time I sat down to write something, until I opened my Bible and flipped to 2 Timothy 1:7. Apostle Paul lets us know that when the spirit of fear tries to settle in our minds, it did not come from God. God has given us the power to overcome and defeat the spirit of fear. No matter the situation, fear does not have a place in your heart or life so do not allow it. Allow the Holy Spirit to give you peace through the sound mind He has given you.
So, what is it that you have always wanted to do? Begin to take steps to achieve what God has placed in your heart. Tell fear it has lost its membership pass and control over your life. Don’t allow fear to paralyze you to the point that you end up in rebellion and disobedience. The Israelites allowed fear to cause them to rebel and as a result, many of them did not enter into God’s promised land for them. Some of us can also allow fear to stand in the way of getting what God has for you, because we feel unworthy to receive what He has for us. As a Daughter of the King, He has already deemed you worthy of your calling. Use your God-given power to defeat fear and become the woman God has called and predestined you to be. Evict Fear! Allow His love to melt away any doubt or fear, because there is nothing that we can be more sure of than God’s love for us!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I denounce the spirit of fear that I have allowed into my life, causing me to be paralyzed and disobedient. I ask You to forgive me and help me to activate the power You have given me to overcome fear. I evict fear! There is no fear here and I will do what You called me to do! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
