Understand that God has a world view. He’s not only interested in your day to day life and eternal destination. He has the whole earth and everyone in it on His mind. Your heart and mind must extend beyond yourself and over into the well-being of others. Do you care about other people and their well-being or just your own? Until you learn to see other children in the world as your own kids, you’ll never seek to help them. Until you begin to see the elderly as if they were your own mother and father, you’ll never reach out to help them. Until you see those in your generation as your sister and brother, you won’t do anything to impact their life. Your heart must extend beyond you and yours.
“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.” John 3:16 (MSG)
I weep at how self-centered I’ve been. Always thinking about my life, my well-being, my needs, my home, my children, my future, or my goals. What about others? I can’t continue thinking I’m the only one living on this planet who desperately needs You. Everyone needs You. Forgive me. Show me Your view of the world. Fill me with the same passion that caused You to give Your Son. Enlarge my heart and give me a world view to where I extend far beyond myself and reach out and be a blessing in this world. In Jesus Name, Amen.
