Fall at His Feet

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. ~Matthew 28:8-9

Can you imagine what was on the heart and mind of these women as they ran from the tomb? Can you picture them hysterically crying and laughing as they run away from the empty tomb to share the good news of Jesus’ resurrection? I imagine they were so focused on their mission at hand, that they must have been startled when Jesus appeared to them. I just picture these two women, so caught up in their emotional response and focused on getting this message out that it would have been impossible for any human being to stop them from accomplishing their goal. Have you ever been all consumed in this way? Have you ever been so completely caught up in doing something on behalf of Jesus, that when Jesus actually shows up – you become startled? I imagine that the response of these women was not something they had the capacity to think about – as their minds were already reeling with so much. I imagine their hearts recognized the voice of their Savior before their brain could register, or their eyes tell them who they were looking at. They knew Him so well, they had spent so much time with Him, that when He appeared, they immediately knew it was Him – spirit to Spirit. And their response is absolutely beautiful. They went to Him, fell at His feet, and worshiped Him. Jesus Himself interrupted their “important” mission of spreading the news about His resurrection. They stopped doing something for Him, in order to spend time with Him. Are you so familiar with Jesus that you would recognize Him if He appeared to you in the middle of the hectic lifestyle we sometimes lead? Oh, how I sincerely hope so! And I pray that our response would be the same as these women – stopping all that we are doing, to fall at the feet of our precious Savior and worship Him.

Prayer: Lord! You are so beautiful! I love your presence! I love your Word! I love you! You are God! Alpha, Omega, and everything in between! You are our Creator, our Sustainer, our Perfector! Thank you for your love! Thank you for your grace! Lord, slow me down today. Slow down the pace of my life. Help me to stop doing so much for you, and to spend time with you. I want to know you like these women knew you! I want to hear your voice and stop all that I am doing just to worship you. I love you Lord, I love you so much! In the precious name of Jesus! Amen
