Forget About It

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13- 14 (KJV)

There is one thing that’s true about every born again believer and that is we have a past!  Some of our pasts might be more “colorful” shall we say than others but the fact remains that no matter what our history may be we have all done things and lived some portion of our lives that was not pleasing to the Lord.  The great thing about the God we serve is that his grace is soooo sufficient for us!  We don’t have to be ashamed of who we once were but we can praise God because of the person he’s molded us into today.  Paul was wise enough to acknowledge that he not only had a past but he was one that persecuted Christ!  If Paul was able to understand the power of God’s grace enough to forget his past and press towards his future, you should be encouraged today knowing that we serve the same exact God!  Don’t be enslaved by your past forget about it and move forward to the greater God has for you!

Prayer:  Father, in the name of Jesus, teach me to receive your grace today.  No longer will I hold on to the guilt, shame, and embarrassment of my past, instead give me a press to move forward in you! In Jesus name, Amen!
