Freely You Have Received…

“…freely ye have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:8

How far did God have to reach down to rescue you? How much did He have to clean up in your life? How much has He forgiven you of? How did you feel when God loved you anyway? The people in your life should receive the same love and mercy you have received from God. When we receive something we don’t deserve it is mind boggling to us. We are speechless. God wants to totally boggle the minds of those in your life and make them speechless. He wants to touch their hearts, but He needs our help. We expect God to love our neighbor for us, but God commanded us to. We want Him to reach the unlovable and difficult ones, when He gave us the charge to love. We expect God to do the hard stuff of showing mercy and love, but God is saying, “It’s quite simple. Take what I have given you and give it to others. You don’t have to create anything new. As freely as you have received from Me freely give.” But you may cry, “I can’t.” When we really mean, “”I won’t.” God will never tell us to do something and not give us the ability to do it. All He needs is our willingness and obedience. Every single command is accompanied by the grace to accomplish it. You may see the glaring flaws in someone, but choose to see them through the eyes of God. Forget what you have experienced in the past when it comes to showing love and mercy and discover why God is so successful at it. If He changed your life with His love and mercy, He can use you to change someone else’s.

Prayer: Yes Lord. I receive Your command and the grace to accomplish it. I appreciate the love and mercy You have given me. You rescued me out of darkness and restored me. I am so grateful. Help me show the same love and mercy to others that You have shown towards me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
