God Made You a Promise

Posted on Posted in devotions

“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” Number 23:19

I woke up this morning hearing in my spirit words that sounded like a song:

God made you a promise
and He’s going to deliver
everything He said
is coming to pass
it’s coming to pass
for you

Anytime I make a promise to my children, I strive to keep those promises. Why? Because it’s very important to me that they know God is a covenant keeping God who always does exactly what He says He will do. While I’m keeping my promise to them, I will look at them and say, “Mommy keeps her promises like who?” And they’ll say, “Like God”.

God wants you to know that He’s not like man. He doesn’t lie. What He said He will do, He’s going to do. He’s going to make good on every single promise He’s made to you. One by one. He told Abram to look and see if he could number the stars in the sky. Then He said, so shall your seed be (see Genesis 15:5). If God did it for Abraham and countless of others, He’s going to do it for you. And it’s not because of you, He’s keeping His promises for His own name sake because that is who He is.

Everything He said is coming to pass…

for you.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for being a covenant keeping God. You keep your promises because that’s who you are. You are faithful and true, and I bless you! Thank you for everything! I love you Lord with all my heart, with all my mind, with all my soul, and with all my strength. Continue to be glorified in my life! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  3. I really needed to read this today. There were difficult times as 2018 drew to a close and even the last evening held a difficult realization. …..things and situations and broken relationships. So, indeed I needed to be reminded that God is always faithful and keeps his promises.
