“Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. ” 1 Peter 3:3,4 (NKJV)
One day while in prayer, I said, “Lord, I don’t have anything I can give anyone financially right now, but I thank You that You have made me extremely rich in my soul.” With tears running down my face, I thanked God for enriching and adding value to the hidden part of me. In that moment, I understood what it really means to be blessed. God wants to beautify your soul. He is trying to make you rich on the inside, but do you keep asking Him for only tangible things? Ask Him for wisdom. Ask for an understanding heart. Ask for a meek and quiet spirit. Ask Him to help you know His voice better. Ask Him to make you into what He deems as beautiful. How do you get a good godly man? You let God make your soul beautiful. How do you land the job that everyone wants? You let God enrich your soul with His wisdom. How do you be at peace with your enemies? You let God change your ways. He said, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” To God, the prosperity of your soul is more important than the size of your wallet. When you let Him enrich your soul, financial wealth and health is not too far behind. A blessed soul is a magnet for the supernatural favor of God.
Prayer: Oh God, my God. You are the lover of my soul. Forgive me if I’ve placed more value on outward things. Beautify me inwardly, Lord. I pray that You give me a wise and understanding heart. Give me a meek and quiet spirit. Fill me with Holy Spirit. Bless me inwardly so I can bless others. All I need is more of You. Thank You Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
