God’s Truth OR Human Truth

“It is true, Lord, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste all these peoples and their lands. They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands.” (Isaiah 37:18-19)

This was Hezekiah’s prayer to the LORD God when the King of Assyria, Sennacherib sent a threatening and intimidating message to Hezekiah, King of Judah (Isaiah 37:10-13, 2 Chronicles 32:16-19). Hezekiah acknowledged and did not dispute the fact, that all that Sennacherib had said was true. It was true that he had laid waste to all the peoples, he went against. However, Hezekiah also knew that that the gods of those lands and people had been destroyed because they were “imitations” and not God since they had been fashioned by human hands.

Hezekiah knew that the God of Judah was the only true and living God; not fashioned by human wisdom or understanding and in this knowledge he placed his confidence and trust. He knew the LORD was faithful because his deeds from of old had been told to him and he himself was a witness to his might and power.

In these times and age, we are still faced by the same circumstance, King Hezekiah found himself.  Whose report will we believe? Are we going to believe the report of the media, the health report or the bank statement?  Hezekiah chose to believe that his God was LORD of all and would save him from the hand of the King of Assyria .It is evident from (Isaiah 53:1) that our decision to believe in the Lord or not will determine whether the arm of the Lord will be revealed or not. The Lord promised us in Isaiah 41:10; that he would not forsake nor leave us. His word is true and sure even in the face of seemingly human truth, fact, findings and report.

Choose today who you will believe and trust in; the omnipresent, omnipotent God or man’s knowledge and evidence that fades and withers away. As you decide remember, the name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to him and are saved.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I choose to trust in your word and truth even when my circumstance and reports prove otherwise. I put my trust and confidence in you knowing you love and care for me and you are the same yesterday, today and forevermore, Amen
