Greater Is He In Me

Sometimes life has a way of knocking us off our feet.  We receive heartbreaking news such as a lay off, a negative health report or a financial set back just when we seemed to be getting ahead.  Marriage problems occur and our children make bad decisions with life changing consequences.  When these times come, it’s tempting to throw in the towel and question God about our circumstances.  If we’re not careful, we can even begin to utter phrases like, “I can’t take this anymore” or “If one more thing happens, I’ll go crazy.”  Although God never promises that we will no longer experience hardships here on earth, He does promise to give us power to overcome every obstacle we are faced with through Jesus.  Because Jesus overcame the world on the cross and gave us His Holy Spirit, we now have everything we need to overcome and be victorious in this life.  We may get knocked down, but we’re never out. Trust that God has and will continue to give you strength and power for your journey.  Rest assured in the fact that He created you in His image and in His likeness, and neither one of those includes failure or weakness.

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” (1 John 4:4 NLT)

Prayer Starter: Father, I thank you that you have not left me to live out this life on my own.  I thank you for the power of the Holy Spirit and the ability to overcome every obstacle I’m faced with.  Help me Lord to receive your power and to resist the temptation to rely on my own strength.  Remind me of who you truly are and all that you have created me to be.  In Jesus name, Amen.

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
