Hand Over the Apron and Spoon

Posted on Posted in devotions

When I set out to prepare a meal, it becomes in my mind a mission to have everything done on time with a clean kitchen afterwards.  It becomes a well-orchestrated event that I happily oversee.  When one dish only has fifteen minutes left to cook, I begin the next dish that only takes fifteen minutes until it’s done.  That way everything is finished at the same time and the mission is accomplished.  My husband makes the same effort in the kitchen, but usually hands over the apron and spoon.  I find the same in my spiritual walk.  God has a plan and purpose that He has set forth in Christ.  There is a way that He operates and likes to get things done.  While we may have a different plan and approach to life, His plans are what works best for us.  He knows how to cause everything in our lives to work out for our good.  He knows how to bring us to a place where we are living victoriously in every area.  Our times and seasons are in His hands, and it thrills Him when we cooperate with Him to accomplish His purpose.  I can imagine Him being very focused as I am when I’m cooking.  He is very focused on His purpose and plan for our lives.  It would be wise for us to hand over the apron and the spoon of our life to someone that knows exactly what He’s doing!

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28 (NLT)

Father God,
I yield to You.  I hand over the apron and spoon of life to You.  Let Your plans and purposes be accomplished in me and through me.  I trust You with my life.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A sincere thank you to our Daughters of the King Daily Devotional Writers.
