Today I was so caught up in my list of to dos that I became aggravated at the slightest interruption of my children. I wanted to check everything off my mental check list before heading out of town for the holidays. Unfortunately, my children suffered the consequences. Instead of sitting and enjoying my day with them, I viewed them as a nuisance. That’s when the Holy Spirit reminded me of a time when I had no children and desperately cried out to God for them. How quickly I had forgotten in my aggravation. Thank God for the Holy Spirit’s leading and reminder to be grateful in all circumstances whether they seem favorable or not. If you’re single, thank God for your singleness even if you’re waiting for Mr. Right. If you’re married, be grateful for the man you once prayed to have. If you’re married with no children, enjoy your time alone with your spouse. If you’re married with children, be grateful for both. There’s a single lady out there wanting a husband to share her life with and a childless wife that dreams of being interrupted by her child.
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. ” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)
I thank you for all that you have given me. Forgive me for taking it for granted. May your Holy Spirit continue to remind me to give thanks in all circumstances. In Jesus name, Amen.
