We love Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
Do you know how much your Father loves you, daughter?
There are people in life that have conditioned us to believe that we have to work for their love and acceptance. We feel as though we always must work, must achieve, must strive to please them to be rewarded with their love. “If I just do this,” we think, “surely they will love me in return.” Isn’t that exhausting?
Human love is often based on reciprocity. I do this for you, you do this for me. I love you, you love me in return. But then what happens when we hurt each other? As humans, we let each other down, disappoint each other, and hurt each other, and when that happens we cause division between each other.
Notice in 1 John 4:19, we love because he first loved us. You did absolutely nothing to make him love you. You did not love Him first to make Him love you back, you didn’t do any certain gesture to make Him care. No, when you were formed in your mother’s womb, He began to love you with an inexplicable love.
Rest this morning in this, sister: You have a good Father who looks upon you with a glisten in His eyes which flows from the love in His heart for you. When He sets His gaze upon you, He smiles and says, “That’s my girl.”
It’t not because of who you are, but because of who HE is. You are loved, my sister, oh so loved. Though the world’s love may be conditional, your heavenly Father’s love is unconditional.
Prayer: Praise you, Father God, that you love me beyond what I can comprehend. Thank you for loving me even when I fail others, even when I fail You. I will never understand the love you have for me, but I thank you for it this morning. You are such a loving Father, and I love you for everything you are Lord. Help me to realize that my cup runs over in love from You. I do not need the approval of others, rather I am sufficient in the love of my Creator. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
