One of my most favorite places to go and relax is Barnes and Noble Bookstore. One day while there, I came across a book by Bishop T.D. Jakes entitled “He-Motions”. I was single at the time and so I grabbed the book hoping it would help me understand men better. However, after being married for quite a while now I’ve had to admit how much I truly don’t understand. My husband would open up to me and I would seek to understand his fears, his mind, and his emotions. It was like he was in an abyss and no matter how much I would try to pull him out by praying for him, speaking the Word to him, listening and counseling him, nothing seemed to work. Feeling helpless, I eventually went to God and said, “Lord, he is struggling with emotions that I don’t understand. Nothing I’m doing is working. Lord, You have to help him.” God began to show me that it’s not for me to understand him, but for me to love him and stay by his side. So one day, after talking and trying to understand, I eventually gave up and acted on God’s wisdom. I said to him, “Baby I want you to know I love you and I’m here for you no matter what.” Immediately he lit up and was encouraged! He praised God and thanked me. I was confounded. More than we can ever understand, God knows and understand His men. He sees through their emotions and into their heart. He knows how to reach them. Seek His wisdom and He’ll help you minister to your man.
“Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:8a NASB)
Prayer: Father, I thank you for your wisdom and grace. Thank You for ministering to my husband. Help me to always come to You for wisdom and direction and try to do nothing in my own strength. I plead the blood of Jesus over my husband and declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
