There may be times when you don’t feel like smiling, when your situation feels far from funny, when happy people annoy you, and everyone you talk to seems to be doing great, causing you to wonder if you are the only one having a rough time. In times like these, you can wonder how do you receive joy when you are just not feeling it? All over the world, there are women who are desperately trying to display a joyful attitude, but they are crying on the inside. Joy isn’t just smiling, laughter, or maintaining a good attitude. Joy is not just feeling happy when things are going well. Joy is not pretending to have a good time when you aren’t. Joy is more than a feeling, it’s a knowing. Often in the New Testament, the word “joy” means cheerfulness or a calm delight. Because you know Jesus and who He is, you have joy. Being reminded of what God has done for you, can bring cheerfulness and a calm delight to your soul. Activate the joy of the Lord by faith. He will cause His joy to flow in you like a river, and it will refresh your soul and strengthen you.
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” (2 Timothy 3:16, 17 NLT)
I know You are my joy! Because I have You, I have joy! I activate it right now in Jesus name. No more grumpiness. You have been good to me and I am thankful. I receive Your joy flowing in my heart and life like a river right now. In Jesus name, Amen.
