One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” So Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God. Acts 18:9-11 (NIV)
When Jesus sent out his disciples, he reminded them, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20, NIV). When Paul was in Corinth, people were stirred up against him because he preached that their “unknown God” is the only true God and Lord. He opened their hearts and minds with the gospel message, but he also opened himself up to danger and threats from the opposition.
One night, God spoke to Paul in a vision. Clearly, He used the same words with Paul that he used with the disciples: “I am with you.”
The Lord is with us in all circumstances, no matter what each day brings. Whether your day is full of health or sickness, joy or sadness, comfort or pain, God’s promise remains for all who believe in Him as Savior: “I am with you.”
God walks beside us, loving us, supporting us, caring about everything we care about. He strengthens, renews, and fills us with hope. He fights beside us, behind us, before us, and for us, vanquishing our foes. He fills us with peace and serenity in the midst of the storm, holding us until the clouds give way to sunshine.
We can bear up under any circumstance because He has promised, “I am with you.”
Prayer: Lord, I thank You for Your promise. I’m sorry for sometimes being so bogged down with life that I forget that You are always with me. Help me to remember and cling to Your promise. Thank you for saving me and making a way for me to be in Your presence. Thank You for being on my side and by my side every moment of every day. Thank You for being with me. Amen.
