I Will Give You Rest

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)

To rest in God is to cease from our works and to let His grace do the job.  After a time of playing around with my children, and teaching them spiritual songs, you would have thought that I would feel worn out, but actually I felt great.  I had chosen to receive the grace and anointing that comes with parenting.  Before I learned the vital importance of receiving His grace in being a mom, I always felt drained, like I needed a vacation every month.  The blessing of God make us rich and doesn’t add sorrow to our lives.  Marriage and family is a blessing.  Ministry is a blessing.  However, what we see today are parents who are heavy-laden with parenting,  preachers who are heavy laden with ministry, business men who are heavy laden trying to increase revenue, and married couples who are heavy laden trying to keep their marriage together.  Remember, God never allows on us more than we can bear.  His burden is light.  If we can’t bear something, either we are not receiving His grace to handle it or we have taken on more than He has told us to take on.  It can also be He did not instruct us to do it.  Any assignment He gives, He provides the anointing, the resources, the know-how, and the strength to carry it out.  Work is not work when we do it God’s way.  And let me say that again:  work is not work when we do it God’s way.  Cease from how you’ve been trying to do things, and receive by faith the grace of God.  Let God show you how to work smarter, not harder.  Let Him show you how to rest in His grace.

Prayer:  Father, I pray that You teach me how to walk in Your grace every day and in every area of my life.  Thank You for everything You have given me.  Help me to never see Your blessing as a burden.  Help me to live a life of rest in You.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
